When: Sunday, June 12, 2011 9:00AM
Where: Robin’s Nest Tea Room 98 Mill Street Almonte
Begin your ride at Robin’s Nest Tea Room at 98 Mill St in downtown Almonte at 9 am. If you are arriving by car there is plenty of parking on the market square behind the Tea Room.
This ride takes you north to the hamlet of Blakeney, then across the Mississippi to the Mill of Kintail Conservation Area, before returning to Almonte. Bring your binoculars, field guide, snacks/and or lunch to enjoy on route. Our leisurely pace with many stops is an easy ride. The picturesque Blakeney rapids on the Mississippi River are well worth the trip as are the approximate 40 species of bird we are apt to see.
We arrive back at Robin’s Nest (hopefully having seen a Robin’s nest on our journey) in time to buy lunch at this intimate tea room.
This ride is free, although donations to Bicycle Month are graciously accepted.
