Movie: A little dated, a little hokey, this 1985 movie about the race cycling scene in America is worth watching for all kinds of reasons. It features Kevin Costner in one of his earliest lead roles in Hollywood, provides beautiful scenic views of the Rockies, and insights into racing strategies. All the Hollywood elements are included in the story line; tragedy, love, heroism, nastiness, and vindication.

Advisory: This movie contains a scene of partial nudity and includes some coarse language.

Movie: The liner notes say it best; “They are seekers, madmen, and angels hell-bent on riding across America on a bicycle in less than ten days… By journey’s end, some are saved, others are lost, but all learn that the fuel that takes a soul toward its own true destiny is desire.”

A riveting true story of the 24thRide Across America (RAAM).  Be sure to join us after the movie for a live question and answer session with the filmmaker as he joins us over the internet via Skype from his home in California.

Advisory: This movie includes coarse language

A teenage country boy moves to Beijing and learns some hard lessons about love, money and ‘fitting in’ in the big city while grinding away as a bike courier. One of the first modern Chinese cinema productions to come to North America, this film offers a different cultural experience for viewers used to Hollywood movies, yet we come away with a sense of shared struggles. This moving story of desperation and perseverance should appeal to a wide audience.
