Subject: Pedalling the Dempster Highway
Susan Roe will share her thrilling and at times bone-chilling experiences of cycling with a group of friends for a five-day 700-kilometre tour of the Dempster Highway, Canada’s northernmost highway (although at times the word ‘highway’ is questionable!).
From Whitehorse to Inuvik, the group camped and experienced the unpredictable weather changes and road conditions this northern region is famous for. Their ride crossed the Great Divide twice.
Although supported by a lead van carrying camping gear and an escort vehicle riding shotgun, their trip was far from easy. Learn about the true grit of this group and the supportive group dynamics that made this a trip of a lifetime for each participant.
