Friday May 1st, students dropped by Almonte’s youth centre TYPS (Taking Young People Seriously) to finish painting the bike racks they constructed last year. Members of the Rotary Club of Carleton Place and Mississippi Mills, the sponsor of TYPS bike rack project, were on hand to witness the progress. The young people produced the racks with the help of local metal fabricator John Branje. One rack will remain at the TYPS building on Bridge Street in Almonte. Another is destined for a strategic place to be named later and the third will find its home next to TYPS’ new community garden.
TYPS is a proud partner in Mississippi Mills Bicycle Month. The group is organizing a Bicycle Film Festival, which will be held in the Old Town Hall in Almonte on Tuesday nights in June. As well, TYPS is heading up a bike swap that will take place at at the Light Up the Night garage sale on June 6th at the Almonte arena.
